Die Nadeln besitzen feine Widerhaken im unteren Bereich, die beim Einstechen die Wollfasern greifen und miteinander verbinden. Durch das wiederholte Einstechen verfilzen sich die Fasern dauerhaft, sodass stabile Formen und kreative Motive entstehen.
Die Filznadeln können einzeln verwendet oder in einen Filznadelhalter eingesetzt werden. Für ein sauberes und sicheres Arbeiten empfiehlt sich eine Bürstenunterlage oder ein Filzschaum, damit die Nadeln geschont werden und die Wolle optimal verfilzt.
