Vor der Verarbeitung wird das Peddigrohr einfach in Wasser eingeweicht, dadurch wird es weich, geschmeidig und lässt sich problemlos biegen und formen, ohne zu brechen. Nach dem Trocknen behält das Flechtwerk dauerhaft seine Form und sollte nicht mehr weiter modelliert werden.
