Der grüne Edelstein ist ein Eisen-Magnesium-Silikat, genauer ein Inselsilikat, er gehört der Minieraliengruppe der Olivine an. Der Peridot ist auch unter den Namen Chrysolith oder Olivin bekannt. Er tritt in vielen verschiedenen Grüntönen auf, die wohl beliebteste Färbung ist wohl der apfelgrüne Peridot. Durch seine lebhaft grüne Farbe wurde er früher von den antiken Römern mystisch „Smaragd des Abends“ genannt. Seit Jahrtausenden ist er ein beliebter Schmuck- und Heilstein. Er besitzt eine starke Heil- und Schutzwirkung. Der Edelstein wird dem Geburtsmonat August zugeordnet und den Sternzeichen Fische und Widder. Der Peridot Edelstein wirkt positiv auf Verdauung, Haut, Augen, Unterleib, Organe und das Immunsystem. Er unterstützt auch bei seelischen Problemen und optimiert die Lebenseinstellung. Der Stein wirkt ebenso entgiftend und ist als Stein der Freundschaft bekannt.
