Siegelwachs ist ein hartes Wachs, dass vor allem für das Versiegeln von Briefen verwendet wird. Im Mittelalter wurden Urkunden damit versiegelt und nur der Empfänger durfte das Siegel brechen. So war gewährleistet, dass der richtige Empfänger den Inhalt erhielt, wobei das Siegel das Symbol des Absenders zeigte.
Heute werden besonders festliche Anlässe mit diesem Siegelwachs verziert. Die Siegelwachsstange wird wie eine Kerze angezündet und das Wachs schmilzt. Man lässt es auf die vorhergesehene Stelle tropfen und setzt dann den Siegelstempel drauf.
Mit einer Stange Siegelwachs macht man ungefähr 20-30 Siegelabdrücke auf ein Kuvert.
