Silikonöl ist ein transparentes Langzeitschmieröl, das seine Viskosität auch bei größeren Temperaturschwankungen nicht verliert. Es wird durch seine gleitfähigkeit auch gerne als Trennmittel eingesetzt und zeichnet sich besonders durch Sparsamkeit und langanhaltende Trennwirkung aus.
Darum wird es gerne für den Formenbau verwendet, da es für Gummi, Holz und Kunststoffe verwendet werden kann.
Neuerdings wird das Silikon-öl auch zu Acrylfarben dazugemischt, damit man die jetzt sehr aktuelle Pouring Technik mit Zellbildung machen kann. Das Silikonöl reagiert in Verbindung mit Hitze (Bunsenbrenner) und Acrylfarben mit einer einzigartigen Zellbildung, unkontrollierbare und unvorhersehbare Strukturen und Zellen entstehen und machen jedes Bild zu einem Unikat.
